Manchester United are reportedly set to face tough competition for Benfica star Joao Felix’s signature, putting in jeopardy any possibility over a deal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to want to revolutionise his side this summer and although the defence is the priority, he has been considering bringing in attacking signings.
The Portuguese attacker can play as a striker, attacking-midfielder and right-winger, making his versatility invaluable to United given how it’s believed they’re targeting all three positions.
Felix has emerged as one of the most wanted teenagers in world football after his impressive performances in Portugal saw him get called up to the national side.
Solskjaer will especially need another striker if reports over Romelu Lukaku’s impending departure prove to be true.
According to the Express, the Red Devils, Manchester City, Juventus and Real Madrid are all in a tug of war with one another with Benfica wanting €120m having already rejected the La Liga side’s €80m bid.
The fee stated is obviously an incredible amount but such is the expectations on the youngster’s potential with many claiming he’s Portugal’s next big thing after Cristiano Ronaldo.
It’s unlikely any club would actually part with the money mentioned but a tug of war over Joao does not suit this struggling Manchester United side at all.
