Former Chelsea player Gus Poyet has claimed that he wants Maurizio Sarri to stay at the club next season.
Rumours have been flying around and no one is completely certain of where he will end up. He has been linked with Juventus for a long time now. Sarri’s debut campaign started off disappointing but ended up quite successful with a third-place finish and a Europa League win.
According to reports on Goal, ex-Chelsea player Gus Poyet wants Sarri to stay at Chelsea and take them through another campaign. Poyet has had his say and thinks that after Sarri’s season he deserves to stay in England and would be good at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri, for me, has done very well.
He complemented his success after finishing third, behind only the two best clubs in England, winning the Europa League, and losing out on the League Cup on penalties. Poyet went on to say:
It looks to me that he’s had enough of the criticism for the job he’s done and actually he is the one who wants to leave. I want Sarri to stay.
