Following Maurizio Sarri’s departure from Stamford Bridge, rumours have been spreading about who will be the new Chelsea boss.
Frank Lampard seemed to be the favourite to take the role and, according to reports from talkSPORT, cited on the Daily Mail, he is set to be appointed as the manager in the next 48 hours.
The former Blues player is set to return to Stamford Bridge, alongside his current assistant and ex-Chelsea star Jody Morris.
Lampard has been successful during his first season as a manager with Derby County, where he only just missed out on promotion following defeat in the play-off final by Dean Smith’s side, Aston Villa.
The Chelsea legend is known for his work with the young players at Derby County, like Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori, and with Chelsea set to be under a transfer ban this summer, this could be helpful for Lampard.
He could bring a new style of play to Stamford Bridge along with new young players from the academy.
