Manchester United are reportedly incredibly close on signing Swansea City’s rising star Daniel James as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempts to wrap up his first piece of business of the summer.
The Welshman has been highly sought after of late but emerged as a surprise candidate to solve the club’s attacking woes next season.
United are in need of a right-winger given the lack of natural options on that flank and the youngster fits the mould of player they’re interested in signing.
Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata are the only two players who feature regularly on the right but both prefer drifting inwards, leaving gaping holes behind them that opponents often exploit.
James would hopefully resolve this issue and his signing would signal Solskjaer’s attempt to address his side’s weaknesses.
According to Football Insider, Daniel is expected to undergo a medical as early as next week ahead of completing a move to the Red Devils.
The figure being mentioned of late is close to £15m which, although is low, the club could’ve potentially held out for less considering his contract only has a year left on it.
Nonetheless, James is a relative unknown to most Manchester United fans so it’ll be interesting to see what he can bring to the starting XI.
