Manchester United have told Inter Milan they want £70m for Romelu Lukaku this summer, with the Belgian open to leaving amid fears of not being first-choice under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to reports.
Antonio Conte, who attempted to sign Lukaku in 2017, is set to become Inter manager ahead of next season and has reportedly told the club to make signing the Belgian a priority.
Man United are open to selling Lukaku. The striker came under enormous criticism last season and Solskjaer has doubts over whether he fits into his long-term plans at Old Trafford.
According to the Mirror, Inter are prepared to offer Lukaku wages of £175,000-a-week – almost double his current salary – and pay a transfer fee of £50m. United, who signed Lukaku for around £90m, want closer to £70m to let him leave.

Over at ESPN, a more reliable source, it is claimed United are demanding a ‘high’ transfer fee, while Inter prefers the option of securing Lukaku on a season-long loan with an option to buy – Radamel Falcao style.

Regardless of which way this goes, Lukaku’s head appears to be turned. He has spoken fondly of Serie A and United are clearly looking for a replacement in Nicolas Pepe. A move away is on the cards.
