Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of a centre-back with Harry Maguire reportedly set to leave Leicester City this summer.
The Englishman was high on Jose Mourinho’s wish-list for defenders last summer but he failed in convincing the board to part with the necessary money.
It’s believed new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also convinced on signing the centre-back, targeting him in a summer of potential overhaul.
Maguire would add definite quality to United’s backline but the stumbling block was always over how much money would be needed to sign him.
Solskjaer is said to have a £200m budget for the summer with four signings on his wish-list and the former Hull man should be within those limits.
According to the Sun, Harry is set to play his last match for Leicester ahead of a summer move with the Red Devils’ potentially needing £60m to convince those at King Power to part ways with him.
Ole may be tempted to look at cheaper alternative but the Norwegian is paying for a player in the prime of his career and he may not be available to sign ever again.
Maguire has continued to impress with Leicester this season after an appealing World Cup performance and so interest in him hasn’t let up.
