Atletico Madrid will complete the permanent signing of Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata for €56 million this summer, according to a report from Italian news outlet Tutttomercatoweb.
The Spain international joined Diego Simeone’s side during the January transfer window, and the deal included an option to buy clause for the end of the season.
It seems Atletico have been left impressed by Morata’s efforts in his homeland and will trigger their option to sign him permanently for a mammoth fee.
The La Liga outfit look all but set to lose Antoine Griezmann this summer after he confirmed that he would be pursuing a departure from Madrid, meaning that the importance of signing attacking players has never been greater for the club.
Morata struggled to make an impact at Chelsea during his first two seasons in the Premier League, falling out of favour under Maurizio Sarri this season.
With the summer transfer window now open, it appears as though the ex-Real Madrid star is set to put pen to paper on a permanent stay at the Wanda Metropolitano.
