Roy Hodgson is set to discuss the future of Michy Batshuayi in a transfer meeting with owner Steve Parish and director of football Dougie Freedman later this month.
Palace will face a challenge if they want to try and sign the player permanently.
The Eagles signed Michy Batshuayi on a season-long loan in January, but the initial deal did not include an option to buy the forward in the summer.
The Belgium striker is likely to be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge this summer, given that he has never established himself in the first-team squad. The Blues may look to cash in on their man.
Batshuayi was not in Maurizio Sarri’s plans when the Italian first arrived at Stamford Bridge and is unlikely to have done enough this season to change his mind.
During his pre-match press conference, as reported by Standard Sport, Hodgson was asked about Batshuayi and he said:
It has not been discussed yet so I couldn’t say. We we will have a meeting and until such time I have got no idea what finances and funds will be available.
Batshuayi is a Chelsea player, so as far as I am concerned it will have to be a question as much for Chelsea as us. We can’t just presume that he is available.
Palace also have a dilemma on their hands with Wilfried Zaha, who is bound to attract a lot of interest from clubs this summer.
