Chelsea’s impending two-window transfer ban is not only set to affect player recruitment, but it could dampen managerial recruitment too as Massimiliano Allegri will reportedly turn down the club for Tottenham Hotspur.
Mauricio Pochettino has openly admitted if his Spurs side wins the Champions League this season he may look for new challenges, and a vacancy has just opened up at Juventus after Allegri announced his departure earlier this week.
According to Express Sport, the Old Lady are eyeing Pochettino to replace Allegri at the helm and the Italian would snub Stamford Bridge in order to take the reins in North London.
It all boils down to having funds to spend this summer, which is why most of the names linked with succeeding Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea aren’t heavyweights in the managerial game.
Sarri has led the Blues to a third-place Premier League finish, League Cup Final and Europa League Final in his first season in charge, but has been the subject of heavy criticism for a number of reasons during his tenure.
The Italian has already admitted he’s not confident of staying on in the capital beyond the summer, but by the looks of things isn’t expected to be replaced by Allegri.
