Tiemoue Bakayoko’s future at AC Milan could be in doubt following the midfielder’s argument with Rossoneri boss Gennaro Gattuso in Monday’s 2-1 victory over Bologna.
The midfielder has been on loan with Milan this season, and the Serie A side were reportedly keen to activate the €35million option to buy clause in the deal should they qualify for the Champions League.
However, Milan are currently in a Europa League qualification spot in fifth, three points behind Atalanta in fourth with three league games remaining, meaning a move for Bakayoko was already appearing unlikely.
And according to Goal who cite Sky Sport Italia, the midfielder’s chances of earning a permanent move to the San Siro suffered another setback on Monday, when the pair were involved in a heated argument, during which Bakayoko appeared to swear in Gattuso’s direction.
I told Bakayoko to warm up, but it took him eight minutes to get ready. Anybody can insult me, but we’ll meet afterwards and look eye to eye. I want to speak to him in the change room and in my language, which I can’t do on TV.
The priority right now isn’t my ego nor the players’. We wear a glorious shirt and have to do the right things. At the end of the year we will give report cards, like in school, and we will see who has behaved well and who has behaved badly.
Bakayoko may have a chance to redeem himself in Milan’s final three games, but given his struggle to settle in at Chelsea following his move from Monaco and a difficult relationship with Gattuso, the Frenchman’s future appears uncertain.
