Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted he has to do what’s right for the club amidst reports of a summer overhaul being on the horizon.
The Norwegian was defiant in his post-match press conference after the humiliating 4-0 defeat to Everton that he was going to be successful at the club and that some of the players won’t be there to make it happen with him.
However, Solskjaer has also preached the need to transition slowly rather than completely reshuffle the pack as he attempts to bring back the old high standards United previously set.
It was initially believed the former Molde man was looking at making three or four signings but the number rumoured in reports have continuously grown with it now reaching six or seven incomings.
Each passing poor performance has seen the Red Devils linked with more and more names but Ole has taken a step back and praised his players’ efforts.
Ole: ”Of course, you learn about players and now is not the time to talk about making wholesale changes in the squad that's been doing so great. City and Liverpool have taken more points than us in the last 18 games or whatever it is, and that's it.” #mufc [MEN]

Ole: "That's a great effort by the boys, we were where we were when we came in, really gave it a go, and you can see loads of Man United standards, the DNA in many of these players. We have to get players in and some players will go out." #mufc [MEN]

Ole: “I like all these boys, I love them but I’ve got to manage for the club and I’m managing the club and the players and I’ve got to put all my effort into making sure we do what is right for the club.” #mufc [MEN]

Perhaps Solskjaer felt that threatening his players wasn’t the way to continue, especially given their poor form and despite how happy it was making the fans.
For all the criticism the current crop have gotten, their performances must be looked at with a level head.
This is the same crop of players who were putting in outstanding displays just a few weeks ago and so deserve some credit.
It was obviously also down to Ole’s tactics so one can only imagine what he could do with even more talented players.
