David de Gea 7 – Didn’t have a lot of saves to make but the ones he did make were important ones.
Ashley Young 6 – Defensively decent enough but going forward he was pretty poor. Final delivery was a constant let down for Manchester United.
Victor Lindelof 7 – Mopped up the loose balls well and was protected enough by his midfield that he didn’t have to do much.
Chris Smalling 7 – Was aerially superb, out-jumping every Barcelona player and kept them relatively quiet.
Luke Shaw 6 – Playing effectively as a third centre-back he was defensively solid but didn’t get any real opportunities to attack.
Diogo Dalot 7 – Started off a little shaky but grew into the game tremendously. Arguably had the chance of the match but couldn’t head it into the corner of the net.
Fred 8 – Arguably the best performance in a United shirt for the Brazilian. His defensive work was superb but his passing range was at times even better.
Scott McTominay 8 – Though he covered every blade of grass, he was surprisingly effective moving forward too. His partnership with Fred is complimentary.
Paul Pogba 6 – Didn’t play poorly but was outshined by his own midfield teammates who were absolutely superb.
Romelu Lukaku 7 – Worked the channels well and held the ball up superbly for his team-mates. All that was missing was a clinical edge.
Marcus Rashford 6 – Plenty of energy and worked incredibly hard but just wasn’t his day. Had a glorious chance of his own but rushed it.
