Man United given huge boost in chase for Matthijs de Ligt: report

Manchester United reportedly may get their wish granted with Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt amid uncertainty over his future.

It was previously believed the youngster was almost guaranteed a move to Barcelona but it appears the situation isn’t quite as clear.

United have chased a major centre-back signing for quite some time, arguably since Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic’s declines and subsequent moves away.

De Ligt represents the ideal type of transfer the club wish to make since he’s already of high quality and has plenty of potential.

The Dutchman has plenty of suitors however and it would take some convincing to get him to sign for any club.

According to the Express, Mundo Deportivo claim that Matthijs’ agent Mino Raiola wants his client to snub Barcelona and move to the Red Devils, Juventus or Bayern Munich instead.

If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to sign the wonder-kid however, he’ll have to ensure his side secure Champions League football for the next campaign first.

It’s unlikely De Ligt will want a move to Old Trafford if that doesn’t happen given how far his Ajax side have gotten this season.

In truth, a player of his quality has the pick of whatever team he likes and so a move to United doesn’t seem quite as likely.

Why Pogba wants to leave Man United for Madrid: report

Manchester United star Paul Pogba is reportedly desperate to leave for Real Madrid as rumours continue to float over his future.

The Frenchman previously admitted his admiration for the Spanish side as well as their manager Zinedine Zidane.

United’s official stance is they’re unwilling to sell but it’s believed they could be for the right price.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer couldn’t reassure fans Pogba would be staying for sure but did say rather hopefully he expects his player will.

It’s believed Madrid are gearing up for a summer overhaul so the rumours over the midfielder could be true.

According to the Independent, Paul is ‘very keen’ on leaving for Real with one of his main concerns being the Red Devils’ unlikely push for titles with the club willing to part ways for a bid over £130m.

The former Juventus man is entering his prime years so it’s understandable he would be chasing trophies.

Pogba probably thought his return to Manchester United would be glorious and that he would be the catalyst for a new title filled era.

Unfortunately that hasn’t been the case with the 26 year old winning just the Europa League and League Cup since moving to Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.

Surprise candidate emerges for Man United's technical director role

Manchester United have reportedly targeted a club legend for the technical director role in their bid to return to the top of English football.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been heavily criticised by the club’s fans for making terrible footballing decisions and they may not be too pleased with this call either.

United’s decline has been ongoing for quite some time now with many believing it began since the Glazer family’s takeover of the club.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s genius is said to have disguised the rot for Woodward and that’s why they’ve struggled since his retirement.

With the Red Devils’ since employing four different managers and failing to win the league, it’s fair to say it’s been a difficult time.

According to the Guardian, Ed is considering Rio Ferdinand for the technical director role which would see him identify and suggest potential targets rather than conclude deals himself.

Supporters have been baffled by the rumour, believing their former captain has little experience to be seriously considered for the role.

Manchester United have never appointed someone for the position in the past so it makes sense to hire someone who has the experience.

Some fans have even called for other club legends to be looked at instead such as Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar.

Chelsea make approach to sign Ligue 1 midfielder

Chelsea have made an approach to sign Thiago Mendes from LOSC Lille this summer, according to claims from Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles.

The Blues could be on the lookout for new recruits in the midfield department in the upcoming transfer window, with Mateo Kovacic currently only on loan at Stamford Bridge.

Maurizio Sarri will be hoping to add more quality to his ranks in the summer, but his hands could be tied.

Alexandre Schneider/Getty Images Sport

Chelsea are looking to have their two-window transfer ban delayed by FIFA to enable them to spend money and complete signings this summer, with speculation still ongoing regarding possible arrivals.

Mendes has been in fine form this season with Lille and has helped the club climb to second place on the Ligue 1 table.

The Brazilian midfielder is a vital player in Christophe Galtier’s plans at the French outfit, however, and if he is to make a move this summer, it is likely that he will cost a premium price.

Man United face potential injury crisis ahead of Huddersfield clash

Manchester United could be without two of their main attacking stars for the upcoming clash with Huddersfield in a blow to their top four ambitions.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s great start is well and truly over with poor results consistently following poor results since his contract was made permanent.

United have failed to look anywhere close to impressive for weeks now and their season is now in jeopardy.

Their draw with Chelsea effectively took their advantage out of their hands with Solskjaer now having to rely on other teams dropping points.

Only two fixtures remain in the Premier League season so there really is no time for the Red Devils to make up for their losses.

According to the Sun, Ole is sweating over Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku’s fitness with the former having a niggling shoulder injury and the latter enduring a hamstring injury.

Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez are the Norwegian’s only remaining options for the striker positions though neither have played there for quite some time.

The duo have mostly played as left-wingers though the latter has also played as an attacking midfielder.

Manchester United fans have been calling for youngster Mason Greenwood to be given a shot in the starting XI, particularly after the disappointments of late.

Serie A defender has offers to join Chelsea or Manchester United this summer

Kostas Manolas, a player perennially linked with moves to the Premier League, reportedly has offers to join either Chelsea or Manchester United this summer.

According to reports in Italy from Leggo, Chelsea, United and even Juventus could all offer him a route out of Rome this summer.

However, it is claimed that Roma’s pursuit of former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte could be a decisive factor in deciding Manolas’ future.

Paolo Bruno/Getty Images Sport

Should the former Blues head coach take the job in Rome, Manolas is expected to reject a move away and sign a new deal with the Giallorossi.

Manolas has a release clause of €36 million and should he sign a new deal with the club, you can expect the Italian club will be eager to remove such a clause.

The Greek defender has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time, especially during Conte’s time in London, but no deal ever materialised.

Sporting Lisbon star subject of bid from Premier League giants amid Chelsea and PSG interest.

Manchester City are set to make a bid in the region of €50million plus add ons for Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes, as interest in the midfielder heats up.

Fernandes has been a standout player for Sporting this season, with an incredible 28 goals and 16 assists in all competitions, and according to Sport Witness via Portuguese outlet A Bola, City are set to make an offer for the midfielder.

The report suggests that Sporting’s director Hugo Viana has travelled to Manchester to meet City’s representatives and discuss a deal for Fernandes, with the initial fee rumoured to be €50million.

City are said to be willing to spend an extra €20million in add ons, as they look to complete the deal before the likes of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain step up their respective pursuit’s of the Portugal international.

PSG have also reportedly made an approach to sign Fernandes, though the Ligue 1 giants are yet to make a formal offer for the 24-year-old.

Premier League winger ready to force summer move with Chelsea and Arsenal keen

Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser is reportedly after a move away from the Cherries.

The Scottish forward has had a prolific season at the Vitality, registering eight goals and 13 assists during the 2018/19 campaign, level with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard assist record.

According to the Mirror, the 25-year-old is not looking to renew his contract with Bournemouth and is, in fact, hoping to secure a move to one of the top six Premier League sides instead.

Chelsea are interested in landing the player’s signature, however also in the race for Fraser are London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal.

The winger was involved in Bournemouth’s draw against Southampton on Saturday, where he set up Callum Wilson to level the game at 3-3.

Fraser commented on his links with some of the top Premier League clubs, Arsenal being the most interested:

I’m not going to lie, it’s very nice. It means you are doing something right. [Arsenal] are a huge club, a massive club.

When his contract runs out next summer, Fraser will be available on a free transfer. However, Bournemouth may be looking to sell him this summer, as they know he will go for a good price.

Chelsea in pole position to land Brazilian youngster

Chelsea are one of a number of clubs interested in signing Athletico Paranaense’s Bruno Guimaraes this summer, while Benfica are also eyeing a move for the midfielder.

Guimaraes has had a standout season for the Brazilian side this season, and according to Sport Witness, via Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Chelsea are in pole position to land the 21-year-old given the Blues’ relationship with Guimaraes’ agent, Giuliano Bertolucci.

Bertolucci represents some of the biggest names in Brazilian football, including David Luiz and former Blues midfielder Oscar, while he has also worked alongside Kia Joorabchian to represent Barcelona star Phillipe Coutinho.

Buda Mendes/Getty Images Sport

Chelsea’s impeding transfer ban could scupper a potential move for Guimaraes, however, who’s release clause of €40million in his Athletico-PR contract will also reportedly price Benfica out of a move.

Serie A giants Napoli and AC Milan are also said to be interested in the defensive midfielder, while both LOSC Lille and Shakhtar Donetsk are keen on a move for Guimaraes.

Impressive Chelsea loanee could secure squad place next season amid transfer ban concerns

Chelsea are having doubts about letting youngster Ola Aina move permanently to Serie A side Torino, with their transfer ban still a possibility.

The 22-year old full back signed for Torino last summer, in a loan move that included an option to buy in the future.

The price on Aina comes to £8.7 million, and having impressed Walter Mazzarri in his 29 appearances for the Serie A outfit, the Italian gaffer is keen on keeping him at the club.

However, according to Standard Sport, Chelsea are wanting to think about their options for squad members in the coming seasons with their transfer ban still up in the air.

Should the ban remain in place this summer, the club will not be able to sign any players and will need to hold on to all the young talents they have currently loaned out.

Valerio Pennicino/Getty Images Sport

Aina has two assists and one goal registered during his time in Turin and has helped to side to a strong sixth position in the league.

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri will be keeping a watchful eye over the Nigerian international, among various other youngsters spending time out on loan to other clubs, in order to decide who is worthy of a place in the starting XI next season, unless their transfer ban is uplifted or at least delayed.

Manager sends transfer warning to Chelsea as they chase £35m deal for defender

Young right-back Youcef Atal is not for sale, according to his manager Patrick Vieira after Chelsea have been linked with a move for the player.

The move was reportedly valued at around £35 million, however, ex-Arsenal player Patrick Vieira has denied his availability, according to the Mirror.

The Algerian defender, who currently plays under Vieira at Nice, has impressed with his versatility. He scored a hat-trick at the weekend against Guingamp, becoming the first Algerian player to score three goals in a Ligue 1 match for 33 years.

Speaking to Nice’s official site, Vieira said this about the player’s future:

We are not sellers. Youcef will be here next year.

Atal signed for nice only last summer and has made 25 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, who currently sit in seventh place.

Youcef is improving. He works a lot. If you look at his goals, you see the aggression he has to be in the right place to score.

He is a positive character with good spirit. He was rewarded for his efforts. The team has allowed him to express himself and to show his talent.

Chelsea will be disappointed with the statement, as they look to increase their squad depth for next season.

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri will be looking elsewhere in an attempt to push his Blue side up the table next season.

German manager rejects approach from Chelsea with new deal set to be announced

Thomas Tuchel has reportedly rejected a recent approach from Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

French football journalist Romain Molina, as cited on Get French Football News claims that the German turned down the opportunity to manage both clubs.

Although, it is unclear just how ‘recent’ these approaches were with Tuchel’s future in Paris up in the air following their exit in the Champions League earlier this season.

Shaun Botterill/Getty Images Sport

PSG are set to finish with the season with just the domestic title, something many expected would be enough to see him lose his job.

Tuchel reportedly signed a new deal with the French giants back in March, but an official announcement on the contract is yet to happen.

Chelsea themselves have a decision to make in the dugout this summer, with concerns over Maurizio Sarri’s future in London.

The Italian is being linked with moves back to Serie A after a difficult first season with the Blues, where he has divided opinions among supporters.

Chelsea ace issues top four rallying call with two games left to play

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has insisted that the club are still as determined as ever to make it into the top four after their draw with rivals Man United on Sunday.

The Blues had the chance to move into the ascendency in the battle for a Champions League place when they faced Man United with Tottenham and Arsenal both suffering surprise defeats.

The London outfit equalised just before half-time through Marcos Alonso and they had chances to win the game, but it finished 1-1.

Shaun Botterill/Getty Images Sport

Speaking to the club’s official website about the stalemate with United, Azpilicueta said:

When the score is 1-1, you don’t want to concede but we showed that we wanted to go for the win because we were still getting players into the box, so I think in that sense we were a little unlucky not to get more out of the game.

The objective remains the same. We are two games away from finishing in the top four, it is in our hands and we want to make sure we win both games and get into the Champions League for next season.

With just two games to go, Chelsea are in fourth place, two points behind Tottenham in third, and with an advantage of two and three points over Arsenal and United respectively.

Chelsea also have the Europa League to focus on, with the first leg of their semi-final against Frankfurt taking place on Thursday. Speaking on how they are tackling their two objectives late in the season, the defender said:

The Europa League is a very important trophy for us to win as well, as we have been working hard for this since September. It’s in our hands but there is still work to do yet, but we have shown that we can compete with our two targets.

The atmosphere in the dressing-room is very good, as always, and we are working hard to ensure we finish the season strongly.

Premier League duo alert as Ligue 1 star reveals his desire to play in England

Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League in the near future, with both Chelsea and Manchester United interested in the striker.

According to an exclusive report from Calcio Mercato, Cavani has been eyeing a move to the Premier League in recent seasons, and the 32-year-old would still be incredibly interested in playing in England as he enter’s the latter stages of his career.

Cavani has previously been linked with both Chelsea and United, with the report suggesting the Blues came close to landing the Uruguay international in 2017, and the pair are still said to have an interest in the striker.

Cavani’s former side Napoli are also keen on signing the striker this summer, but fear his wage demands could price the Partenopei out of a move for the Uruguayan.

The 32-year-old has scored an impressive 17 goals in 17 Ligue 1 appearances this season.

Former Chelsea player gives prediction about Sarri's future

Maurizio Sarri will likely stay at Chelsea but the club’s hierarchy aren’t convinced by him, according to former Blues midfielder Craig Burley.

It has been an unpredictable first season for Sarri at Stamford Bridge, with a mix of great, good, average and bad all thrown in.

Supporters have not always been left convinced by the Italian’s methods, but he has still guided Chelsea to within touching distance of a top-four finish and Europa League glory.

Despite this, there is constant speculation surrounding Sarri’s future, with Blues legend Frank Lampard recently linked with replacing him.

Speaking on ESPN FC, pundit Burley says he believes the 60-year-old will earn a one-year extension, despite those high up at the club not rating him:

Mike Hewitt/Getty Images Sport

I think he will stay on, but I’m not convinced he’s the right man for the job. I think he deserves at least another year.

And I kind of think that’s how the Chelsea hierarchy see it.

The likelihood is they will give him another run but I don’t think they’re convinced, I certainly think the fans are not convinced.

Sarri’s future is likely to depend on what happens in the remaining few weeks of the season.

Should Chelsea qualify for the Champions League, either by winning the Europa League or by finishing in the top four, or both, it will be hard not to stick with him.

Failure to achieve that goal could be fatal, however.

Man United already lining up replacement for De Gea: report

Manchester United have reportedly targeted Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak, making him a key transfer target for the summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already has one of, if not the world’s best goalkeeper in David de Gea but it appears he believes otherwise.

The Spaniard has been in poor form of late, making costly errors in the losses to Barcelona and Manchester City, while singlehandedly causing United’s draw vs Chelsea.

De Gea has looked strangely human for the first time in his career and Solskjaer has publicly backed him despite the errors.

Oblak is another who football lovers claim is the best in the world so he would prove to be an adequate replacement for the former Atletico Madrid man.

According to ESPN, the Red Devils are seriously considering triggering Jan’s €120m release clause, throwing David’s future into even more doubt.

The rumours smells of those in charge at Old Trafford attempting to ease fans’ concerns over their star’s future.

It could be that Manchester United are trying to scare De Gea into committing as it shows they have a willingness to look elsewhere.

There have been other reports claiming the club are happy to allow the 28 year old to enter the final year of his contract as they don’t believe he will leave.

Man United dealt huge blow in their Raphael Varane pursuit

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane had only bad news for Manchester United fans about Raphael Varane’s potential departure.

The defender’s future has been up in the air all season with their being claims he was looking for a new challenge.

The peak of the rumours came at a time the French boss wasn’t in charge of the club and many of Madrid’s stars were said to be on their way out.

Varane was particularly linked with United since it made the most sense given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reported desire to sign a top centre-back.

Zidane though has moved to reassure Real fans with the season soon coming to a close and the transfer window just around the corner.

According to FourFourTwo, Zinedine said: “The positive point of this season finale is that Varane will stay.”

Solskjaer will now have to turn his attentions elsewhere though no one truly believed Raphael was a realistic option either way.

Manchester United would likely have to have Champions League football before being able to lure him in.

Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld have both been touted with a potential move to Old Trafford instead.

Though the former would cost far more, it’s believed he’s still a more realistic option than Varane and now United have the closure they may have been looking for.

Manchester United defender deserved to be sent off against Chelsea according to former Premier League referee

Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher believes Manchester United defender Marcus Rojo should have been sent off for his challenge on Willian during Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Rojo caught the Chelsea winger on the ankle following a dangerous tackle after being brought on as a second half substitute, and according to football.london, via Sky Sports, Gallagher believes referee Martin Atkinson should have sent the Argentine off.

I think you could’ve given the first free-kick when the damage was already done, and then you wouldn’t have had the second foul. The first (on Gonzalo Higuain) was enough to give a foul for as there’s enough intensity in it.

Shaun Botterill/Getty Images Sport

But the challenge on Willian is just not acceptable. It’s a red card, and the referee just hasn’t seen it or is too close and right on top of it or how he’s got him, as the referee has played an advantage. I know Martin Atkinson well, and he’ll be absolutely livid with himself. He’d be the first person to hold his hands up and say, ‘if I’d have seen that, I’d have sent him off’.

The Blues remain in fourth place in the league following Sunday’s draw against United, who are three points further back in sixth.

Man United star admits uncertainty over his future

Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku has admitted over uncertainty regarding his future amidst countless rumours.

The Belgian has been linked with a move to the Serie A and he himself has spoken of his desire to play in Italy one day.

Juventus have been reported to be interested but it’s Inter Milan who are believed to be the more realistic candidates due to Mauro Icardi’s inevitable departure.

Antonio Conte is expected to be Inter’s next manager and it’s said he is a fan of Lukaku so perhaps that’s how the summer will play out.

The former Everton man hasn’t quite had the career expected of him at United despite his outstanding goalscoring record.

According to the Guardian, Romelu said, when asked about his future: “I don’t know, I am not here to entertain rumours. I am still under contract.”

There are some fans who believe the striker isn’t complete enough to lead the Red Devils to any major trophies.

Lukaku has often been reduced purely to his physical stature and unfortunately some can’t see past it.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also seems to have a preference for Marcus Rashford which could spell trouble for thee former Chelsea man.

Romelu may have to reinvent himself as a right-winger if he wishes to succeed at Old Trafford though the Norwegian manager could always play a two striker formation in order to squeeze in both stars.

Chelsea to battle Atletico Madrid for €40 million Ligue 1 star

Chelsea have established an interest in signing OGC Nice defender Youcef Atal and could make a move if their transfer ban is delayed, according to a report from The Telegraph

The Blues are understood to be among a trio of European outfits who have taken a liking to the right-back, who has caught the eye with some excellent performances in Ligue 1 this season.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are noted as potential suitors for Atal, while Spanish club Atletico Madrid have reportedly identified him as a possible transfer target.

Catherine Ivill/Getty Images Sport

The Algerian turned in a stunning display in Nice’s most recent outing. Patrick Vieira’s side defeated EA Guingamp 3-0, with the right-back scoring a hat-trick.

According to The Telegraph, the 22-year-old is held in extremely high esteem by the French club. It is claimed that a fee worth at least €40 million would be required to convince them to sell Atal.

Chelsea are well stocked with right-back options, however. Cesar Azpilicueta and Davide Zappacosta are Maurizio Sarri’s current options, while Reece James and Victor Moses will return from their loans this summer.

Chelsea scout attends Porto clash as left-back links intensify

Confirmed: Man United star out for rest of the season, big blow for Solskjaer

Manchester United star Eric Bailly has officially been confirmed to be out of the club’s remaining fixtures for the campaign.

The Ivorian featured in the recent draw with Chelsea but unfortunately was substituted off the field after a tackle.

The centre-back was visibly in a lot of pain and fans feared the worst, especially given how well he was playing.

Bailly could’ve begun to stake his claim in the starting XI if he didn’t pick up an injury given how it would’ve been tough to drop him after his performance.

The former Villarreal man has struggled to have an impact at United mainly due to his fitness issues rather than his ability.

According to the club’s official website, Eric has suffered a medial ligament injury on his right knee meaning he will miss the Red Devils’ two remaining games as well as his nation’s fixtures in the summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will now probably revert back to his usual partnership of Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling.

With Bailly suffering such a big injury, it’s now more than likely that the Norwegian will dip into the transfer market for a new centre-back.

Before, Solskjaer may have been forgiven for placing his hopes on Lindelof and the 25 year old forming a solid partnership but that now doesn’t seem likely.

Chelsea line up shock swoop for PSG attacker ahead of summer transfer window

Chelsea have been linked with a summer swoop for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

According to indications from France, as cited in a report from Calciomercato, the Blues are preparing to make a move for the experienced attacker if a transfer ban does not hinder them.

Chelsea have struggled to convince in front of goal during Maurizio Sarri’s first season at the club. Olivier Giroud and Gonzalo Higuain have failed to shine, and Alvaro Morata is out on loan at Atletico Madrid.

Srdjan Stevanovic/Getty Images Sport

The Blues could be on the lookout for added attacking quality in the summer, but the manager recently hinted that he expects the club to sign Higuain from Juventus on a permanent deal.

Nevertheless, this has not prevented speculation from gathering ahead of the summer transfer window, and PSG star Cavani has emerged as a possible target.

Reports in January suggested that Chelsea were planning to make a £50 million move for the Uruguay international, but no move materialised.

Reports in Italy suggest that Arsenal are in ‘first place’ to sign Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet (via Sport Witness).

The transfer window is still a few months away but that doesn’t mean that clubs aren’t scouting and planning for potential targets.

We reported last week that the Gunners may have made their first signing of the year and it seems as if another could be on the way.

Arsenal may not have a Technical Director but it seems as if they are still looking at potential signings.

Reports in Italy suggest that the Gunners are heavily tracking the Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet.

The Serie A side are said to be open to negotiations for the Belgian midfielder who could be available for around €20 million.

The Turin newspaper Tuttosport has claimed that Arsenal are in ‘first place’ to sign the midfielder who could act as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

It’s clear that Arsenal need a replacement for Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman’s absence in recent weeks has been noticeable and it’s obvious that the team is missing a midfielder of his quality. It’s unclear if Dennis Praet could be that option but we can just wait and see.

Emery On What Went Wrong Against Leicester

Emery On What Went Wrong Against Leicester

[bc-marketing id=”119131″]

Unai Emery has spoken about what went wrong for Arsenal during Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Leicester City (via Arsenal.com).

It was yet another disappointing day for Arsenal. The Gunners lost 3-0 to Leicester City on Sunday afternoon to cast further doubt on their top-four chances.

The loss was Arsenal’s fourth in five Premier League matches and yet another example of their woeful away form.

Arsenal managed just one shot on target during 90 minute and now, Unai Emery has revealed his thinking behind his side’s game plan.

“Our gameplan was to be strong in our defensive moments and in our attacking moments, to take our chances, attacking their back four,” Emery said after the match.

“We started very well, we controlled the match with good positioning and defensively with not many problems. They controlled the possession but we were good on the pitch and we wanted to grow up in 90 minutes to take our possibility to win today, being competitive in 90 minutes and also being strong in our mentality.

“The players worked very well and I’m proud of them. With one player less, we continued our gameplan, trying to be together, defensively strong, and in the attacking moments to take our moments.

“The first goal has conditioned the result. When we were better on the pitch with one player less, they had a counter-attack and scored the second one and finished the match.”

It was yet another infuriating match for Arsenal. The 3-0 defeat was one of the worst performances in some time and Unai Emery’s game plan must be brought into question. The Gunners looked completely bereft of ideas as they gifted possession away and played long ball.

Koscielny Gives A Reason Behind Arsenal’s Away Form

[bc-marketing id=”119131″]

Laurent Koscielny has attempted to give an explanation for Arsenal’s dire away form this season (via Arsenal.com).

Arsenal’s squad is far from perfect but there is a clear divide between the club’s playing style at the Emirates and away from home.

The Gunners’ home form has been wonderful in the last few years but their record on the road is embarrassing.

That continued on Sunday with the 3-0 defeat on Sunday, something which captain Laurent Koscielny has attempted to explain.

“The away form is not good at this moment,” Koscielny confessed.

“We won away at Napoli and it was a difficult game because it’s a very tough atmosphere, but when the confidence is a little bit down then it’s tough to come back.

“We need to stay together every day to give more for the team. We need to give five more per cent every day to get this confidence and come back at our top level.

“We have the quality and we’ve shown that this season, but now we have five games in front of us and every one is so important for our future. We need to fight.”

Arsenal’s record away from home is really worrying. The Gunners have lost 19 of their last 37 away matches in the Premier League, winning just ten. It’s an embarrassing record and highlights some of the biggest flaws in this squad.

Chelsea and Liverpool on red alert with winger set to announce his next club this week

Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich target Nicolas Pepe is set to announce the club in which he is set to join this week.

According to reports in Spain from Diario Sport, as cited on FourFourTwo, the Lille winger is close to making a decision on his future.

After a standout season in Ligue 1, Pepe has been linked with several clubs around Europe.

The Ivorian has been right up there with the best performers in the league and as a result, a host of clubs are taking notice.

Reports linking Pepe to Chelsea have intensified in recent weeks, with the Blues planning for life without Eden Hazard.

Pepe has often talked up a move to Chelsea in the past. When you take into account Didier Drogba’s legacy at the club, it’s clear to see why his fellow countryman would be attracted to a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea set a deadline to make decision on Sarri's future as they identify club legend as his replacement

Maurizio Sarri’s future at the club is set to be decided in the coming weeks as Chelsea identify Frank Lampard as the Italian’s replacement.

According to Calcio Mercato, as cited on Sport Witness, ‘indirect contacts’ have been made to know the availability of the manager as AC Milan are keen on making the Italian their new boss amid concerns over Gennaro Gattuso’s position.

However, Calcio Mercato suggests that the former Napoli boss is adamant on staying in the Premier League as the salaries are higher in England than the rest of Europe.

It comes as no shock that ‘super Frank’ tops Chelsea’s manager wish list as the former Blue has enjoyed a good debut season in charge of Derby County.

The Englishman sees his side sit in the final play-off position with just one game left to play, but it would be hard for the Chelsea legend to turn down a chance to manage his beloved club.

Chelsea keen on deal to sign wantaway Bournemouth star

Chelsea are interested in a deal to sign impressive Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser this summer.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are all interested in signing the Scotsman at the end of the season.

Fraser has been in impressive form for Bournemouth in the Premier League this season, with seven goals and 13 assists for the South Coast club – attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea.

Jan Kruger/Getty Images Sport

The 25-year-old joined Bournemouth in 2012, from Aberdeen, and has made over 150 appearances for the club in all competitions since – scoring 22 goals.

He scored five Premier League goals last season, but has kicked on in the current campaign and starting to show why he has been so highly rated in recent years.

The report also claims that Fraser is keen to leave Bournemouth this summer and is not willing to discuss a new contract with the club as he looks to test himself at the highest possible level.

Championship star rejected move to Chelsea last summer

It has been revealed that Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul rejected a move to Chelsea at the start of the season.

According to Dutch outlet Voetbal Zone, Krul turned down the chance to sign for Chelsea as he did not want to sit on the bench.

He had left Brighton at the end of last season and went on to sign for Norwich in the summer, after rejecting Chelsea.

James Chance/Getty Images Sport

The Dutch shot-stopper has played every minute of Norwich’s campaign in the Championship so far, with the Canaries having already secured promotion up to the Premier League with one game left to play.

Chelsea ended up signing Robert Green on a free transfer to be the club’s 3rd choice goalkeeper. The experienced former England international has not played a game for the club in any competition this season.

Speaking to Voetbal Zone, Krul explained why he rejected Chelsea:

I wanted to prove the opposite to everyone who had already written off me in the Netherlands.

Chelsea star to undergo tests today to determine if he can play again this season

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger will receive tests today to uncover the severity of the knee injury that forced him off against Man United yesterday, the Evening Standard report.

The German had to be subbed off in the 65th minute of Sunday’s game after going down holding his knee in innocuous fashion with no one around him.

Things don’t look good for the 26-year-old, as it is suspected that he will be forced to miss the remainder of the season.

He is set to undergo tests sometime today to see how serious the injury could be and whether he will be able to play again in any of Chelsea’s remaining games.

Sarri’s side have some big games still to come in Europe and in their battle for the top four.

Rudiger has been one of his key players so news of this injury will come as a huge body blow to the Blues.

The former Roma centre-back has been ever-present in Chelsea’s league games this season, but he will almost certainly miss their first-leg Europa League semi-final on Thursday.

Chelsea then face Watford in the Premier League on Sunday, before the return leg against Frankfurt and a trip to Leicester on the final day, with Rudiger likely to be a big doubt for each of these games.

Sarri provides update on Chelsea star's future

Maurizio Sarri has hinted that he expects Gonzalo Higuain to be a Chelsea player next season.

The Blues drew 1-1 at Manchester United on Sunday afternoon – a result that leaves destiny in their own hands with regards to a top four finish.

Higuain led the line at Old Trafford, although his performance frustrated many supporters, with a constant knack for getting offside proving an issue.

It hasn’t been a wholly convincing spell at Chelsea from the Argentina since joining in January, with many predicting he will not be retained beyond the end of the season.

Speaking after the draw with United, however, Sarri said the 31-year-old’s future may lie in west London:

In theory, yes.

It’s difficult to adapt to the Premier League. I think in the next season he will be able to score a lot.

Higuain has only scored four goals in 12 starts for the Blues, often looking like a player past his best.

It may simply be a case of adjusting to the Premier League, however, with next season potentially seeing the striker hit top gear.

Solskjaer gives injury update on Bailly and Rashford after Chelsea

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemed to be hopeful over the injuries Marcus Rashford and Eric Bailly suffered during the clash with Chelsea.

The Norwegian watched on helplessly after his side limped to a draw with the Blues which put a huge dent in their top four aspirations.

United initially led through a Juan Mata effort after some fantastic piece of play that involved Romelu Lukaku and Luke Shaw.

Unfortunately David de Gea‘s error allowed Chelsea back into the match and Solskjaer’s men couldn’t push on to find a winner.

Rashford and Bailly were both substituted off the pitch after picking up knocks with fans fearing the worst, particularly with the latter.

With just two fixtures left in the Premier League season, it’s probably unlikely supporters will see either feature once more.

In truth Marcus could do with the rest given his poor form of late with some suggesting it could be due to him suffering a classic case of burnout.

Eric played well before being taken off with there being suggestions of a promising partnership forming between hisself and Victor Lindelof.

The Ivorian will now have to try to prove himself once again from the start of the next campaign if he’s still at the club after the summer.

Man United star admits top four is basically gone after Chelsea draw

Manchester United star Juan Mata has admitted his side’s chances at achieving a top four spot will be slim following the draw vs Chelsea.

The Spaniard capped off a fantastic move involving Luke Shaw and Romelu Lukaku to give his team the lead at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately David de Gea‘s error meant the Blues’ tied the fixture, leaving United three points off fourth place with two games remaining.

Mata is one of numerous players at the club whose futures are uncertain with his contract in particular expiring this summer.

Despite the lack of negotiations over a new deal, the former Chelsea man starred for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer though he unfortunately couldn’t help his side grab a second.

The Red Devils’ fan base are not optimistic of their top four chances and it seems the players feel the same way.

The truth is they’ve had multiple chances to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League but have failed to take advantage.

Sunday’s draw with Chelsea could potentially have been their last chance but given how poor Arsenal and Tottenham have also been, they may have hope yet.

The Blues’ have also struggled for consistency this season so all Manchester United can do is try to end the campaign positively after their disappointing recent run.

Why Solskjaer will be delighted and frustrated with this player after Chelsea draw

Eric Bailly delivered the most Eric Bailly performance possible during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

The defender, making his first start for Man United since Paris in March, produced a fantastic performance at the back, repelling Gonzalo Higuain with that splendid mixture of explosiveness and class supporters know he can bring.

And then we got the brainless side of Bailly, the Ivorian flying madly at a loose ball and seeing his knee crushed by the boot of Matteo Kovacic in the process. He was down for a while with what looks like another serious knee injury.

Once again, United fans got the brilliance and madness of Bailly in one strange package.

United have a genuine decision to make over Bailly in the summer. Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are, unfortunately, guaranteed to stay, while Marcos Rojo looks done. But what of Bailly?

Against Chelsea he was the perfect partner for Victor Lindelof: physically imposing, mentally tough, an enduring stalwart repelling the visitors from coming anywhere near De Gea’s goal, almost visibly reducing the space in which the visitors could play. In these moments, you see in Bailly a player who could exert the same kind of influence over this United team that Virgil van Dijk has brought to Liverpool.

One important caveat, though: he is permanently injured. Do United take the risk and keep him, or will they decide Bailly is no longer worth it?

Attacker receives low mark for dismal display: Chelsea player ratings from the draw at Manchester United

Another David de Gea howler gifted Chelsea the advantage in the hunt for a top-four finish after a 1-1 draw against a Manchester United side now winless in their last four games.

The Red Devils started brightly and took the lead within 11 minutes as former Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata finished off a superbly-worked team move to give the home side the lead.

De Gea, though, who has now made three errors leading to goals in his last four games, presented Marcos Alonso with the chance to pounce on a loose ball and restore parity just before the break. The marauding Spanish left-back has been out of sorts this season but showcased his eye for goal once again as his close-range effort clipped the post on its way in.

After the interval, United tried with little success to break down a rigid Chelsea backline, whose confidence seemed to have inexplicably blossomed with the return of Antonio Rudiger to the side following injury.

After Pedro cleared Marcos Rojo’s header off the line, it was clear that Maurizio Sarri had finally come out on top in an away game against one of the ‘top six’ teams.

Vote: Who was Chelsea's Man of the Match against Manchester United?

Chelsea remained in contention for a top-four finish with a 1-1 draw away at Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur had lost their respective fixtures earlier on in the weekend, allowing the Blues a chance to cement their place in the Champions League qualification berths.

However, the spoils were shared at Old Trafford as Juan Mata’s opening goal for United was cancelled out by Marcos Alonso’s equaliser.

Who was your Chelsea Man of the Match in the 1-1 draw against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men?

Have your say with our duel below!

Gary Neville: Solskjaer has to drop De Gea after Chelsea howler

Gary Neville believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has no choice but to drop David de Gea following his error vs Chelsea.

Manchester United started the fixture fantastically, even grabbing the opener after some neat play from Romelu Lukaku, Luke Shaw and Juan Mata.

With Solskjaer’s men in control of the match, De Gea couldn’t hold onto a long range effort from Antonio Rudiger with Marcos Alonso pouncing to level the tie.

After that, United couldn’t push on to grab the match-winner and fans were split over their feelings towards the goalkeeper.

Neville was clear with what David needs to do to recover his best form however, believing a break is much needed.

The Spaniard has been the Red Devils’ best player in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era but is currently enduring his worst form since.

Even De Gea’s initial struggle to adapt to English football was less error-strewn than how he’s currently playing.

Sir Alex opted to protect the former Atletico Madrid man back then and he has since gone on to become the world’s best in his position.

However, David did endure another blip in form under Louis van Gaal who once again dropped him under his future was clear amid Real Madrid’s interest.

Man United fans split over De Gea after error vs Chelsea

Manchester United fans were split over their reaction to David de Gea‘s error during his performance vs Chelsea.

The Spaniard has looked a shadow of himself over the past few games with some supporters running out of patience.

The goalkeeper is widely regarded as the best in the world in his position but his latest form has seen the debate start over again.

De Gea has saved United countless times in the past but lately he’s been costing them points with the Blues’ pouncing on his mistake to level the tie 1-1.

Unfortunately Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men didn’t have enough about them to win press on and win the fixture, leaving fans with mixed feelings towards their star player.

There’s been talk over David’s form with many believing it has to do with his current contract negotiations.

It’s hard to deny that is the cause for his lapses in concentration as the last time he was putting in such poor performances, it was due to Real Madrid’s interest.

That came at a time Louis van Gaal was in charge and he opted to drop De Gea for Sergio Romero until the former’s future was resolved.

Higuain struggles again: Four findings from Chelsea's draw at Manchester United

Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues headed into the game looking to stake their claim once again for a top-four finish, especially in light of Leicester City’s 3-0 demolition of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham in earlier fixtures this weekend.

Maurizio Sarri’s men started on the back foot, though, and were a goal down after two of the club’s former players combined. Juan Mata finished after some good work from Romelu Lukaku to put United a goal ahead.

However, Chelsea responded courtesy of Marcos Alonso, who tapped home after David de Gea spilt Antonio Rudiger’s shot from long range.

The Blues were good value for their point and rode waves of United pressure in large parts of the match. They will, however, know that they must begin taking their chances if they are to book a place in next season’s Champions League.

Here are four findings from the draw.

The post Four Findings: Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea appeared first on Read Chelsea.

Player ratings: De Gea makes another crucial howler

David de Gea 4 – Yet another howler. And a costly one. With Manchester United 1-0 up and dominating, the Spaniard spilt a weak long-shot into the path of Marcos Alonso, who equalised. He has now made a decisive error for four games in a row. Time to drop him?

Ashley Young 5 – Did not get pulled apart as he did against Manchester City but, once again, lacked precision in the final third.

Eric Bailly 7 – The classic Eric Bailly performance: wonderfully explosive in defence (utterly repelled Gonzalo Higuain), mixed with a few crazy moments, and then topped off with a horrible injury. Truly vintage.

Victor Lindelof 6 – Looked more comfortable alongside Bailly, positioning himself well. Could have been more positive with his passing.

Luke Shaw 7 – In a team desperately lacking intensity and fitness, Shaw serves as a shining light. Provided an excellent assist for Juan Mata‘s goal.

Nemanja Matic 6 – Benefitted from having Ander Herrera and Juan Mata in close proximity to him. Dropped off in the second half.

Ander Herrera 7 – His presence on the pitch is so crucial. Upped the tempo of Manchester United’s passing and endlessly recovered position. Losing him would be a huge blow.

Paul Pogba 6 – Enjoyed a fantastic first half, bursting into key areas and using the ball smartly, but could do little to affect the game during a slow second period.

Juan Mata 7 – The Spaniard has produced three strong performances against Chelsea this season. Added some maturity to Man United’s movement of the ball and scored a well-taken goal.

Romelu Lukaku 7 – Led the charge in a superb first half, bullying Chelsea’s defenders endlessly and creating the space for Mata’s goal. When he plays like this, the Belgian is unstoppable.

Marcus Rashford 6 – His off the ball movement was excellent in the first half, dragging David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger all over the place, but the Englishman badly lacks fitness following so many niggles throughout the season. Came off with a shoulder problem in the second period.

Alexis Sanchez

Marcos Rojo

Scott McTominay

Confirmed starting XI Man United vs Chelsea: Herrera starts

Ander Herrera has returned to Manchester United’s starting XI for their crucial Premier League clash with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard, who starred in Man United’s 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge earlier this season, features for the first time this month.

Eric Bailly also makes a rare start amid another season plagued by injury. Chris Smalling, Fred and Jesse Lingard are not in the squad.

Arsenal’s good start lasted much of the first half as the home side forced a couple of big saves out of Bernd Leno. The German pulled off a string of good stops, the best of which to deny Wilfred Ndidi from a corner.

Alexandre Lacazette volleyed Arsenal’s only chance wide of the goal before a real key event in the match. Ainsley Maitland-Niles gifted possession on the halfway line and caught James Maddison with a late tackle to prevent the counter. The Arsenal right-back was shown his second yellow card of the match and was promptly dismissed.

Unai Emery made a halftime substitution with Laurent Koscielny entering the fray and Shkodran Mustafi stepping out wide. The change balanced the defence but lost another key option moving forward.

That shaped the second half. It was a case of ‘attack against defence’ with the home side with the Foxes flowing forward at every opportunity. Arsenal’s defence held out for the early period but could do little when Youri Tielemens ghosted into the box to head home from a cross.

With that, Arsenal’s gameplan was undone. The Gunners were a mess defensively after that opening goal as Jamie Vardy added two late goals to seal the win.

Arsenal fans will be forgiven for lacking in confidence as they prepared for another away match in the Premier League. Little in the opening exchanges would have convinced them otherwise as Leicester got off to a good start.

That good start lasted much of the first half as the home side forced a couple of big saves out of Bernd Leno. The German pulled off a string of good stops, the best of which to deny Wilfred Ndidi from a corner.

Alexandre Lacazette volleyed Arsenal’s only chance wide of the goal before a real key event in the match.

Here’s how we rate the Arsenal players:

Bernd Leno – 7.5

It’s rare for a keeper who conceded 3 goals to get such a high rating but Bernd Leno played well today. The scoreline would have been far greater had the German not been on form.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 2

He can feel a little hard done by but Ainsley Maitland-Niles must bear some of the burdens for this defeat. His decision to go to ground and make a tackle on the halfway line was a poor one and gave the referee little option but to send him off.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos – 3

Another player whose afternoon went to pieces with Leicester’s opening goal. Sokratis did reasonably well for the opening hour of the match but the last 30 minutes were embarrassing.

Shkodran Mustafi – 3.5

3.5/10 is an improvement for Shkodran Mustafi which says a lot about his recent performances. The German played relatively well for the opening hour of the match but his afternoon went to pieces with the opening goal.

Sead Kolasinac – 3

Poor. Sead Kolasinac didn’t defend well but look a little better moving forward. Still, his attacks were pretty hit or miss.

Granit Xhaka – 3

A really poor afternoon for Granit Xhaka. The Swiss international lost out in midfield but what was most disappointing was his distribution. Xhaka’s long passing was woeful.

Lucas Torreira – 5

It wasn’t Lucas Torreira’s best match in an Arsenal shirt. The Uruguayan midfielder was heavily involved in the action and received more than his fair share of rough tackles. Still, he wasn’t the worst player in the Gunners line-up.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 3

A poor performance from Henrikh Mkhitaryan. He started slowly but the Armenian’s day was made a little more difficult when he had to fill in at right-back. Still, he had a good 20 minutes after halftime to make an impression further up the field and offered next to nothing.

Sub: Matteo Guendouzi (73′) – 4

Barely involved.

Alex Iwobi – 3

He was anonymous for much of the first half. Alex Iwobi will be disappointed with his performance but specifically for that missed opportunity with the score at 0-0. The Nigerian international never looked confident in front of goal.

Sub: Laurent Koscielny (45′) – 5

Laurent Koscielny did well for the first ten minutes after halftime but his match fell to pieces with the opening goal.

Alexandre Lacazette – 4.5

Another disappointing performance from Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman missed Arsenal’s big opportunity in the first half and never seemed to really recover. He kept the ball reasonably well but just cut a frustrated figure all day long.

Sub: Eddie Nketiah (79′) – 5

He worked reasonably hard but it was a tough match for Eddie Nketiah.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 4

If Alexandre Lacazette cut a frustrated figure then Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cut an indifferent one. The Gabon striker worked relatively hard but things just didn’t work out for him on the day.

Chelsea given potential boost in race to sign Napoli duo

Chelsea have been given a potential boost in their pursuit of Napoli duo Kalidou Koulibaly and Lorenzo Insigne.

According to the Daily Mail, via The BBC, Napoli will not force the pair to stay if they decide that they want to move on to pastures new.

The report claims that Chelsea are interested, along with Liverpool, in signing Insigne this summer. Koulibaly has also been linked to Chelsea earlier this year, as they look to sign a central defender ahead of next season.

Francesco Pecoraro/Getty Images Sport

Chelsea, however, are still facing an uncertain summer. They have been hit with a two-window transfer ban by FIFA, with Chelsea still hoping that they are able to sign players in the next transfer window.

If they are, then this news will come as a massive boost to Maurizio Sarri as he looks to bolster his squad and push on next season – having worked with Koulibaly and Insigne at Napoli.

Chelsea reporter provides worrying update on FIFA transfer ban appeal

If you’re hoping to hear whether Chelsea are able to sign players or not this summer soon, you may be left disappointed.

FIFA imposed a two-year transfer ban on the Blues back in February for signing under-age non-EU players and the club are still waiting to hear back after appealing earlier this month.

Things don’t seem to be moving quickly though, and Evening Standard reporter Simon Johnson believes a decision isn’t imminent.

Chelsea appealed in hope that they would be able to sign players this summer, before the ban was put in place, similarly to Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid over in Spain.

Maurizio Sarri will be desperate for another transfer window to work in as Eden Hazard looks certain to leave the club for in excess of £100million before his contract expires.

Christian Pulisic will arrive from Borussia Dortmund but there are plenty of other areas needing to be looked into if the club are to challenge for major honours again next term.

Man United vs Chelsea; Early confirmed team news

Ander Herrera, Scott McTominay and Eric Bailly have returned to Manchester United’s squad ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be boosted by the presence of the Spaniard, who performed brilliantly at Stamford Bridge in February, along with the return of McTominay, in a midfield which looked fatigued and in need of reinforcement against Manchester City. The 22-year-old had failed a fitness test ahead of Wednesday’s 0-2 defeat.

Defeat for Man United – now with a grim record of seven defeats in nine games – would effectively kill off any hopes of Champions League football next season.

Here is the full squad ahead of a crucial encounter at Old Trafford against Maurizio Sarri’s men.

Man United midfielder asks to be sold amid interest from Spain: report

Manchester United star Paul Pogba has reportedly asked to be sold amid interest from Real Madrid.

The Frenchman has previously admitted that joining the Spanish side would be a dream, particularly if he was playing under his idol Zinedine Zidane.

The former Juventus man’s form has dipped after initially performing outstandingly under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Some believe his form has dropped due to being distracted over a potential move to Madrid.

Solskjaer also stopped short of confirming Pogba would remain at Old Trafford next season but did say he was determined to succeed with his current club.

According to the Mirror, AS report that the midfielder has made his intentions to leave clear, asking the Red Devils to depart after agreeing a £10m a year offer with Real.

Succeeding at Old Trafford might only be Paul’s ambition should his side qualify for next season’s edition of the Champions League.

It has been claimed his future at Manchester United is very much based on whether top four is achieved or not.

It makes sense given Pogba’s quality that he wouldn’t want to be with a side so clearly in transition and instead join Madrid where he’d be more likely to win a trophy or two.

Eric Bailly's stance on joining Ligue 1 confirmed: report

Manchester United star Eric Bailly has reportedly confirmed his future at the club amid speculation over a potential move away.

The Ivorian was initially brought in to partner Victor Lindelof and form a solid centre-back pairing over the next decade.

Unfortunately that wish hasn’t come to fruition though the Swede has enjoyed his breakthrough season this year.

Bailly hasn’t managed the same success with his injuries consistently disrupting his development and it’s showed as he’s struggled with maintaining a place in the starting XI.

There have been rumours Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to let the former Villarreal man go if he wishes to depart but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

According to Manchester Evening News, Eric is unfazed over speculation over his future and is committed to fighting for a place in the Red Devils’ starting XI despite Lyon’s interest in him.

It would be understandable if the 25 year old pushed for a move away given the lack of minutes he’s had this season.

Chris Smalling is also ahead of him in the pecking order which is something fans are still struggling to understand.

If Bailly can remain fit then there’s no real reason why he can’t force himself into the starting XI, unless Solskjaer opts to bring in a top centre-back this summer.
