Man United legend picks his Manchester derby combined XI

Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville has picked his combined Manchester derby XI ahead of the two rivals’ clash on Sunday.

United host Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and will be hoping to extend their fine form at Old Trafford with a win.

Anything short of three points will not put the type of pressure Jose Mourinho would like to put on the Sky Blues who currently lead the league on eight points.

The derby will surely be a crucial clash for more than just it’s history as the result could potentially swing the title in the victor’s favour.

Guardiola would be wise to settle for a draw considering all the context but it’s likely that his team will continue their attacking style of play even away from home to their rivals.

Neville’s XI has a few notable absences with some fans criticising his decision to omit Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial who have both had incredible seasons.

In their place come in City’s Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane who have also gotten respectable plaudits from neutrals and pundits alike.

Manchester City supporters meanwhile accused Phil of being bias having picked Phil Jones and Antonio Valencia over Kyle Walker and possibly Nicolas Otamendi.

United’s Ashley Young got the nod at the left back spot after his impressive form this year has seen him become Mourinho’s first choice option for that position.

Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero partner each other up front in what would surely be one of the most terrifying attacking duos currently in football.
