Manchester United star Eric Bailly has officially been confirmed to be out of the club’s remaining fixtures for the campaign.
The Ivorian featured in the recent draw with Chelsea but unfortunately was substituted off the field after a tackle.
The centre-back was visibly in a lot of pain and fans feared the worst, especially given how well he was playing.
Bailly could’ve begun to stake his claim in the starting XI if he didn’t pick up an injury given how it would’ve been tough to drop him after his performance.
The former Villarreal man has struggled to have an impact at United mainly due to his fitness issues rather than his ability.
According to the club’s official website, Eric has suffered a medial ligament injury on his right knee meaning he will miss the Red Devils’ two remaining games as well as his nation’s fixtures in the summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will now probably revert back to his usual partnership of Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling.
With Bailly suffering such a big injury, it’s now more than likely that the Norwegian will dip into the transfer market for a new centre-back.
Before, Solskjaer may have been forgiven for placing his hopes on Lindelof and the 25 year old forming a solid partnership but that now doesn’t seem likely.
