Chelsea hope to hijack Man United signing by expressing interest in Mourinho target

Chelsea have expressed an interest in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to a report from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Maurizio Sarri’s appointment as Chelsea boss has seemingly kick-started the club’s transfer activity and they’ve expressed an interest in signing the 23-year-old.

Manchester United are keen to sign Milinkovic-Savic, as are Barcelona, and as such, Lazio have apparently put a whopping £115m price tag on his head.

However, Corriere dello Sport suggest that Chelsea will try to reduce that fee by offering a player-plus-cash deal, one which would see Cesc Fabregas join Lazio.

The Serie A side were originally not interested in selling Milinkovic-Savic, but with interest in him so high, their position has now softened and as such, Chelsea have made their move.
