Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand hopes his former side are chasing PSG’s Kylian Mbappe in order to complete a transfer for the player.
The Englishman has been apart of the BBC punditry team for the duration of the World Cup and certainly didn’t hold back in his praise for the Frenchman.
Mbappe is officially a World Cup winner at the age of 19 and wasn’t a benchwarmer either, playing a crucial part in his nation’s second ever win of the trophy.
Ferdinand, just as many others, touted the youngster to win the Ballon d’Or in the future and to take over from the legacies of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Lots of pressure for just a teenager but Kylian has proven capable of handling such attention after shooting himself into the limelight with his club side.
According to Manchester Evening News, Rio said on BBC: “He [Mbappe] is a superstar. It wasn’t a shock for him to do that in a World Cup Final.
“He is the guy that Cristiano and Messi are handing the crown over to. He will be on the Ballon d’Or podium for the next 10 years. I hope my old club is chasing him.
“I hope they’ve got their cheque book out, saying ‘whatever it costs, we’ll take you’.”
The PSG star has been linked with a move to Real Madrid following Ronaldo’s shock departure to Juventus, meaning he’d be a direct replacement for the Portuguese.
Mbappe has the world at his feet at such a young age and will learn from the likes of Mario Balotelli on what not to do after the Italian was touted for a similar future.
