Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has criticised Eden Hazard, and the rest of his forward players, following the club’s 1-1 draw with Wolves on Sunday.
Sarri says that Hazard needs to learn to move the ball quicker in order to break down opposition who defend deep, as Wolves did against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Raul Jimenez gave Wolves the lead in the 56th minute as his shot deflected off Cesar Azpilicueta and looped over Kepa’s head.
Hazard, however, stepped up in stoppage time to hammer a strike into the bottom corner from distance to earn a point for the Blues.
Speaking to The Daily Mail after the game, Sarri said this:
Hazard, as well as all the other offensive players, must learn to move the ball faster in this kind of situation.
He is able to dribble past five, six or seven opponents, of course he is a great player – he can resolve the situation in every moment.
When we play against a team that doesn’t want to play, we need to move the ball faster, we need more movement without the ball.
We need more movements in the space otherwise it’s impossible to score.
We have to do better otherwise it’s easy to come to Stamford Bridge and put 11 men in the last 20 metres, so we need to improve resolving this kind of situation.
Hazard has 13 goals and 11 assists in the Premier League this season, far more than any other Chelsea player, but Sarri is urging him to be faster in order to avoid more dropped points.
