Jose Mourinho has denied claims that he and Eden Hazard have a strained relationship, dating back to his second spell in charge at Chelsea.
The duo were reported to have fallen out before Mourinho was sacked as Blues manager back in 2015/16.
Some believed the Belgian downed tools in the final months of his manager’s second stint in charge, and the Portuguese did question his commitment at the time.
Mourinho says there is no problem between him and Hazard, though, contrary to popular opinion.
Speaking to beIN Sports, the Portuguese correctly stated that the player had arguably the best season of his career under him, winning the PFA Player of the Year award:
No! No! Hazard with me was voted the best player in the Premier League. He won the award.
No, no way. I have a good relationship with him.
It will never be known how things really are between Mourinho and Hazard, but there is undeniably mutual respect between the pair.
While the winger’s performances did drop off noticeably in 2015/16, he still thrived under Mourinho’s management at times, too.
