Manchester United star Juan Mata has provided Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with an injury boost after claiming there are reasons to be optimistic.
The Spaniard broke down during the clash against Liverpool and has been missing ever since.
Mata isn’t particularly a crucial player in Solskjaer’s system but he would definitely add quality to United’s current line-up as well as provide an option.
The former Chelsea man’s contract currently expires this summer and is one of a few stars who could be set to depart.
The Red Devils have a bit of a breather in terms of their fixture list now having navigated through a difficult period rather successfully.
According to Goal, Juan wrote in his blog: “It is has been another different week, without being able to play, but there are reasons to be optimistic.
“On Friday I was able to put in some work out on a pitch again and my recovery is progressing as hoped. Hopefully I can rejoin the team soon.
“Thank you for your messages. I’m going to keep doing everything I can to be back fit as soon as possible.”
Though there’s no date to confirm Mata’s return, given how he’s already doing some pitch work again, it shouldn’t be too long.
March is also the month the international matches begin again which should mean the injured Manchester United stars have extra time to recover.
Solskjaer will just be hoping none of his players pick up any knocks while away, particular key players such as Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard.
Either way, Juan is a welcome boost to the squad whether everyone’s fit and available or not as his playmaking skills are valuable against stubborn opposition.
