Claudio Ranieri wants to take Chelsea outcast Danny Drinkwater to Roma this summer, according to Calciomercato, via talkSPORT.
Ranieri and Drinkwater won the Premier League title together at Leicester City in 2015/16 and had a strong relationship.
The midfielder has suffered a hugely disappointing spell at Chelsea since moving from the Foxes in 2017, never becoming a regular and managing just 23 appearances in total.
At 29, he needs to be playing regularly and Ranieri could be set to end his Stamford Bridge nightmare.
The Italian took charge at Roma earlier this month, following the sacking of Eusebio Di Francesco.
Ranieri himself was only recently dismissed as Fulham boss, after only two months in charge at Craven Cottage.
Roma have already enquired about Drinkwater’s availability and he is seen as a rival to veteran Daniele De Rossi in the middle of the park.
It is certainly one to keep an eye on.
