It is no foregone conclusion that Eden Hazard will trade Chelsea for Real Madrid, according to former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan.
Hazard has flirted with a Blues exit a number of times down the years, but has ended up staying loyal to them.
There are strong rumours linking him with a summer move to Real Madrid, however.
The return of his hero Zinedine Zidane as Madrid manager has only heightened the chance of him moving on after six years at Stamford Bridge.
Despite it looking as though Hazard’s time at Chelsea may finally be up, Jordan doesn’t believe it is a done deal, by any means.
Speaking to talkSPORT, he said Madrid don’t have the lure they once did, with the Blues arguably as big a club nowadays:
I don’t think it’s necessarily a foregone conclusion that he’ll go to Madrid because I think Chelsea have still got a lot of lure about them.
Everyone’s house is for sale if someone offers you twice the price for it. In this situation, what benefit is the money if they can’t buy any players?
I think it’s a sad situation for English football if we lose a prestigious talent like that, because he is a very talented player and I don’t think Real Madrid and Barcelona are bigger clubs than the English clubs anymore.
I think that’s all part of the past and I don’t see why Madrid should be attracting the players to go over there.
We should be able to keep them at the Chelseas, Manchester Uniteds and Manchester Citys of the world.
More is set to become clearer in the coming weeks and months but Hazard has always spoken of being content at Chelsea.
At 28, he may feel this is his last chance to get one more big move in his prime, though.
