Callum Hudson-Odoi has set his sights on emulating the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro at Chelsea as he hopes to reach the same level as the Blues’ forwards in the future.
In an interview with the Independent, the winger opened up about his life at Chelsea and revealed it was a “dream come true” when he walked into the dressing room to see his shirt hanging up for the first time.
Just seeing my shirt in the dressing room, it made me feel like a part of the club. It was a dream come true. [Once I was on the pitch] I just wanted to get on the ball as much as possible and show what I’m capable of. I think now I’ve done that, I’m just delighted and pleased for myself.
Hudson-Odoi’s future at the club has been under intense speculation this season, after the winger appeared to force a January move to Bayern Munich through amidst interest from the German champions.
The winger is one of the brightest prospects to come through Chelsea’s academy in recent years and the 18-year-old revealed he is hoping to follow in the footsteps of some of Chelsea’s current senior players.
I look up to everyone, but I especially look forward to training with Hazard, Willian and Pedro especially because that’s where I play. I just keep working hard to try to emulate what they do and, hopefully, I can be where there are one day.
Hudson-Odoi has scored three times in 14 appearances for the Blues this season, with two of those goals coming in the Europa League.
And the winger revealed how proud he felt after scoring his first senior goal for Chelsea against Vidi.
I just couldn’t believe it to be fair. As soon as I saw the crowd screaming and jumping I didn’t think it was a goal. I thought that I’d done something wrong and then when everyone started coming round me I realised… I’d actually done it… I’d actually scored my first goal for my club. It was a proud moment for me and my family.
