Ruben Loftus-Cheek remains optimistic about Chelsea’s chances of finishing in the top four this season, and urged his teammates to believe they can still qualify for the Champions League this season.
Eden Hazard scored a 92nd minute equaliser against Wolves to salvage a draw on Sunday for Maurizio Sarri’s side, as the Blues missed the chance to strengthen their push for Champions League qualification.
Only four points separate Chelsea in sixth and Tottenham in third, however, and Loftus-Cheek believes his side, who have a game in hand over their top four rivals, are still in with a chance of finishing in the top four, according to the Mirror.
It’s still all to play for. It’s been up and down for us but we will keep going, keep working hard in training.
The points gap is not too big, so we will keep going to try to get those wins. We must keep believing.
Loftus-Cheek continued his recovery from a back problem after making a substitute appearance against Wolves, and was one of Chelsea’s biggest threats in the second half.
And despite remaining optimistic about the Blues’ top four ambitions this season, the midfielder believes Sunday’s draw was a missed opportunity.
We had all the possession but we couldn’t break them down. We needed to move the ball faster and find something different, some magic to open them up because it was tight in there. We saved a loss but we really wanted the win, so it feels like two points dropped.
