Manchester United fans were thoroughly proud of their players’ fighting spirt vs Liverpool in a match dominated by injuries.
Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford all picked up early knocks that almost saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men forced into playing with ten men.
The two Spaniards were substituted right away for Lingard and Andreas Pereira but unfortunately the former had to be pulled back off after picking up a knock himself.
Alexis Sanchez came on but the disruptions didn’t help United’s cause with the match eventually ending in a goalless draw.
Rashford essentially spent three quarters of the match limping as he battled on to stay on the pitch so his side weren’t a man down.

Don’t care what anyone says, every single one of our players out there today can hold their heads up. Fantastic performance with the lack of our first team players due to a number of injuries.
I’m happy with the point

Very happy with a point. Considering all the injuries, there was phenomenal spirit shown by the boys today. Defensively that was outstanding, even on the counter we showed some promise. #mufc

No Martial and Matic going into the game, forced into all three substitutes in the first half and Rashford played the full game with a knock. Even then, we still created the best chances and played really well against this so called special Liverpool side. #MUFC

That’s a goddamn miracle. Our defense today was absolutely outstanding. Shaw, Lindelof – immense. Heroes the lot of them. We played a team that’s fighting for the title with our players dropping like flies and kept their attack line mute. PROUD @ManUtd

Disappointing game but suspect United fans won't be disappointed. Effort and support in the second-half superb and #mufc were probably the better side. Smalling superb again. Pereira impressive.

Despite Liverpool dominating possession, the best chances arguably fell to United who may have stolen all three points had they had better luck.
Jesse is perhaps the most guilty having been sent through by Romelu Lukaku one on one with the goalkeeper but couldn’t capitalise.
Nonetheless, the Red Devils will definitely be thinking it’s a point gained rather than two lost given the context of the match.
Hopefully the injuries suffered aren’t as serious as they looked and Solskjaer can continue the team’s efforts of securing a top four spot.
