Leeds United are not ruling out a summer move to sign Isaiah Brown from Chelsea on a permanent basis.
That’s according to the well respected Leeds United journalist Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post.
When quizzed on the possibility of Brown turning his loan deal with the Whites into a permanent move, Hay explained that it could happen if the club achieves promotion.
He’s got a long deal there (on a high wage) and there was no option to buy in the loan. A possibility if Leeds go up and he does well.
Brown joined Leeds on loan over the summer but has only recently broken into the first-team squad.
The Chelsea forward has been struggling with injuries and has been forced to play with Leeds’ academy set-up in an attempt to regain his fitness.
Hay states that Brown’s high wages could be an issue for the club, which would explain why promotion to the Premier League could be the determining factor for the Championship high flyers.
It remains to be seen if Brown has a long-term future at Stamford Bridge, having only made one senior appearance for the club.
