[Team News] Arsenal v Manchester United - Gunners Confirm The Worst With Hector Bellerin's Injury

Arsenal have confirmed the worst with Hector Bellerin’s knee injury, that the Spaniard will be out for up to nine months (via Arsenal.com).

It certainly looked like a serious problem when Hector Bellerin went down on Saturday evening clutching his knee.

The Spaniard had only just returned from a muscular injury but was stretchered off with twenty minutes still to play at the Emirates.

Now, the club has confirmed the worst news possible, that Bellerin’s has ruptured his anterior cruciate knee ligament and will miss the next six to nine months.

“Hector will undergo surgery to repair this in the coming days,” read the club’s statement.

“The rehabilitation process is expected to take between six to nine months and therefore rules Hector out of action for the remainder of this season.

“Everyone at the club will now be working as hard as we can to ensure Hector is back on the pitch as soon as possible next season.”

Bellerin joins Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding as the club’s other long-term layoffs with Henrikh Mkhitaryan expected to rejoin full training this week.

It’s a massive blow and such a disappointing story. Hector Bellerin had been enjoying his best season at Arsenal for a couple of years and has become a hugely important player in the team. Hopefully, there will be no lasting damage once he is back and Bellerin can get back to his best next season.
