It was worrying to see Sokratis Papastathopoulos go down clutching his ankle on Friday night.
The Greek defender had been on a fine run of form and his injury only added to the Gunners’ defensive problems.
Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin are long-term absentees but over the weekend, the club confirmed that Sokratis’ ankle problem isn’t as bad as first feared.
The club announced that the former Dortmund man is expected to return to full training within a month and also provided an update on Laurent Koscielny.
The Gunners’ captain picked up a nasty injury to his jaw on Friday night and the club has confirmed bruising and soft tissue swelling.
So, it’s good news for the Gunners ahead of Tuesday’s Premier League clash with Cardiff City. Sokratis will return to full training within a month and it seems as if Laurent Koscielny hasn’t broken his jaw as some feared. Still, the injury problems are not ideal and Arsenal could have some defensive trouble on Tuesday night.
