Maurizio Sarri claims he is not looking to sign a new striker in January, despite various reports suggesting otherwise.
The performances of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have been criticised this season, leading to constant speculation surrounding January incomings in attack.
Gonzalo Higuain and Callum Wilson have both been strongly linked with moves to Stamford Bridge, although nothing has come to fruition yet.
Speaking to ESPN, Sarri says he is content with his options, although reinforcements in wide areas could be on the cards:
No, because I have the option with Hazard in this position.
We have Morata and Hazard can play very well in this position as we have seen in the last matches, so I think at the moment I don’t need another striker.
Maybe another winger, because now we are in trouble with the injuries of Pedro, of [Callum Hudson-Odoi], [Ruben Loftus-Cheek], so I have options for the striker, but at the moment I have no option for the wingers.
Whether or not Sarri is simply keeping his cards close to his chest is up for debate, but for the time being it does look as though he will keep faith in Morata and Giroud.
The pair have only scored six Premier League goals between them in 2018/19, in a combined 31 appearances.
