Juventus defender Daniele Rugani recently discussed the speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea.
It was reported towards the end of last year that the Italian international regretted not completing a switch to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.
The centre-back had been heavily linked with a move to London following the appointment of Maurizio Sarri, who had been aware of his qualities following his time in charge of Serie A club Napoli.
Rugani netted in Juventus’ recent win against Chievo and fielded questions again about a potential move to Chelsea. As quoted by Il Bianconero, however, he was dismissive of these claims. The defender said:
I didn’t receive any call from Sarri. I am studying English but that’s not linked with work. I think it’s something important for my personal growth and for general culture.
Of course, I want to play, everybody wants to play more games but it’s also important the position in the group and I know my value.
The 24-year-old has been performing strongly when called upon for Massimiliano Allegri’s side throughout the season so far, with the Italian giants leading the way at the top of Serie A.
However, Rugani has played only five times in the league, with regular football still eluding him in Turin.
