Inter boss Luciano Spalletti has insisted that Arsenal will need to spend big if they want to sign Ivan Perisic this month.
It’s a transfer story which has caused considerable interest to Arsenal fans but that major stumbling block is the club’s lack of financial clout.
Head coach Unai Emery has insisted that the club can only sign players on loan during this January window which is evidenced in the Gunners’ reported offer for Ivan Perisic.
It is claimed that Arsenal have offered to take the 29-year-old on a €5 million season-long loan deal with a €35 million option to buy in the summer.
Inter, however, would like the permanent deal to be an obligation, something which their manager Luciano Spalletti echoed.
“It’s quite simple. Players can say what they want, but they are employees, they have signed contracts and in order to leave, they need someone willing to pay for them,” Spalletti said after dropping Perisic for Inter’s 1-0 defeat to Torino.
“You can’t leave for free and with your salary paid by someone else. If, as Marotta said, he doesn’t want to play, then clearly he’ll be left out. That’s not a problem for me.
“Someone who cannot contribute to the team has to stay out.”
It’s clear that not all is right for Ivan Perisic at Inter Milan. The Croatian international was left out of the matchday squad on Sunday evening amid the transfer rumours. Inter obviously want as much money as possible but Arsenal will not want to spend the reported €35 million transfer fee.
