Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is in the running to be named the Premier League Manager of the Month for December, the club’s official website has announced.
Sarri has been nominated for the award for the third time already this season, after being shortlisted in August and October.
The Blues boss guided his side to six league victories during the festive period, including two consecutive 2-0 victories over neighbours Fulham and champions Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Goals from N’Golo Kante and David Luiz inspired Chelsea that day, ending City’s unbeaten run in the league.
Chelsea then went on to win three consecutive games away from home against Brighton, Watford and Crystal Palace respectively.
Sarri is one of five managers nominated for the award for December alongside Nuno Espirito Santo of Wolves, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, Manuel Pellegrini of West Ham and Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino.
The Blues kicked off the New Year with a somewhat disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Southampton but now turn their focus to the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon as they host Nottingham Forest.
Chelsea have progressed from all three of their previous FA Cup ties against Forest, though the Championship side have a history of knocking out the holders of the competition; doing so on five of the last six occasions including at this stage against Arsenal last season.
