Sokratis Papastathopoulos has had a swipe at Spurs man Harry Kane after his North London Derby performance (via Goal.com).
It was clear that Arsenal outperformed their North London rivals on Sunday afternoon in the first derby of the season.
The 4-2 was well deserved with Spurs’ key man putting in an uncharacteristically quiet performance against the side he played for as a child.
Kane’s only real chance came via the penalty spot and that was thanks largely to Sokratis Papastathopoulos who kept him quiet all much.
“He’s a very good player, of course. He’s one of the best strikers in the world – but not today,” Sokratis said after the match.
“I think today we were much better,” Sokratis went on.
“We lost our concentration for 10 minutes after 30 minutes of the game. In the first half and second half we were much better and could have scored more goals.
“I think today there was only one team on the pitch.”
Those are some brilliant words from Sokratis Papastathopoulos. Arsenal put in their best performance of the season against Spurs and the big Greek defender was crucial to that at the back. The former Dortmund man dealt with Harry Kane extremely well and can be delighted with his first North London Derby.
