Petr Cech has admitted that he would like to remain at Arsenal despite his contract coming to an end in six months (via The Standard).
Aaron Ramsey is the biggest name on the list but he isn’t the only Arsenal player whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
Along with the Welshman, Danny Welbeck, Nacho Monreal, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Petr Cech are all out of contract in less than six months.
The only goalkeeper on the list is currently the backup to first-choice Bernd Leno and has admitted that he would like to remain at the club.
“I would like to stay but we are in January,” Cech told Standard Sport.
“The season is long so you never know what will happen. I don’t feel stressed or pressed about when we sit and when we talk.
“I just do my job and in the end we can easily sit and discuss it, so we will see. I haven’t [had an offer yet] and after the transfer window we will talk and see where we are.”
Petr Cech’s best days as a player are probably behind him now but is a valuable asset to the club. He is perhaps the most experienced figure in the squad so it’s hard to weigh up his value to the team. We can only wait and see whether he will still be an Arsenal player in six months.
