Victor Lindelof produced a superb performance at both ends of the pitch as he defended elegantly and scored a late injury time equaliser for Manchester United against Burnley.
The Swede, an unsung hero of the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era, defended with authority and calm against a physical Burnley defence which produced two goals largely out of nothing.
And with Man United piling on pressure late on, Lindelof was in the perfect place to clean up a loose ball in the box, preserving his side’s unbeaten run under Solskjaer.
Lindelof’s stats from the game tell the story of yet another complete defensive performance.
Victor Lindelöf’s game by numbers vs. Burnley:
100% take-ons completed
97.5% pass accuracy
9 clearances
5 ball recoveries
2/2 accurate long balls

So classy, so secure, so decisive. Without Lindelof, the newfound attacking vitality at Man United would matter little, because United’s defence would be a place of pure chaos.
As things are, supporters are not just seeing a top class centre-back putting in top performances every game. They are seeing a character – a sense of personality – in these displays as well. That ice-cold, firm-headed attitude was exactly what United needed in those final ten minutes.
It was fitting that Lindelof got the final say to a crazy evening.
