Freddie Ljungberg has praised Gabriel Martinelli after the Brazilian’s performance against West Ham on Monday night (via Arsenal.com).
Many had expected Freddie Ljungberg to really switch things up in terms of team selection when he was handed the interim head coach position.
That didn’t happen in his first two matches in charge but on Monday night, Ljungberg shuffled his pack.
A few younger players came in and one who caught the eye was Gabriel Martinelli, the first goalscorer.
The Brazilian has now scored eight goals in an Arsenal shirt in all competitions since arriving in the summer and after the match, his head coach was full of praise.
“Gabi is a fantastic player,” Ljungberg said after the match.
“He’s still very young but he has that energy about him and he goes and he goes. He has no fear and he just keeps on going.
“So it’s a pleasure to see him there on that pitch, and for him to get the success that he did today, it gives you a smile to your face.”
Gabriel Martinelli is a star in the making. He’s playing like someone far older than 18 and is really catching the eye. He looks so composed already, especially in front of goal. Let’s hope that this continues for the Gunners star for many years to come because Arsenal clearly have a prospect.
