Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella is the latest player to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
Reports in Italy, as cited on the Metro, claim that both Maurizio Sarri and his assistant Gianfranco Zola are working to try and convince the club into signing the player from Cagliari.
Both are said to be huge admirers of the player and want those behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge to launch a move.
Barella is highly rated in Italy and the report claims a bid in the region of £41 million could be made when the January window opens.
Premier Leauge rivals Tottenham and Liverpool have been heavily linked with the classy midfielder, who has been impressing in Serie A.
Chelsea have been linked with a host of midfielders in recent weeks, with Cesc Fabregas being tipped to leave the club in the coming months.
While there are also concerns over whether or not Chelsea will sign Mateo Kovacic on a permanent basis at the end of the season, meaning they could need a central midfielder in the summer.
