Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has vowed to get Manchester United players “enjoying their football again” after becoming the club’s caretaker manager.
The Norwegian, who spent 11 years at Old Trafford, was appointed on Wednesday morning following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho the day before.
He will be joined by Mike Phelan, former right hand man to Sir Alex Ferguson, and took his first training session today.
Here is a snippet of the interview with Solskjaer, who spoke like a true United manager, emphasizing players expressing themselves and trusting in youth players.

Alternatively, here is a transcript of the interview’s key points.
“It’s great, it feels like coming home. It’s been a few whirlwind days. It’s great to see everyone again. It’s six months. I’m going to enjoy the ride. It’s about seeing the players and staff, being myself, the club is running a process to find the next manager.”
“The rest of the staff will get the players enjoying football again. The amount of games coming up is no problem. Amazing squad of players, they’re all quality, they’ll all get a chance with the games coming up.
“Whatever’s happened has happened. Everyone starts with a clean slate. You have to start somewhere. I’ve seen the last few games, you look at the team, you pick up a team now and move on. They’ll all get chances.
“Being part of this team, i’m apart of a huge team. We’re playing for the supporters, our pride, the club’s history. It’s going to be very special.
“If you’re good enough you’re old enough. I really hope. I can be apart of that tradition. There’s some great youngster coming through. I’ve spoke to most of them [United squad] today, it seems like a great set of lads, professional, wanting to do well, want to learn. I’ll spend a lot of time in the next few weeks to get to know the players.
“I will give everything i’ve got for us to have success. I’ll do my very best along with the staff to get the players playing and enjoying themselves. Can’t wait to get it going.”
