David de Gea 7 – Only needed to make one save all game and it was spectacular, clawing away a deflected effort which had gone past him.
Antonio Valencia 5 – Defended with his usual discipline and strength but, on his first game since October 2, faded towards the end.
Chris Smalling 7 – One of the best performers for Manchester United was once again a defender in the form of Smalling, whose composure and authority largely kept the visitors at bay.
Phil Jones 7 – A very strong performance after two months out. Defended with ferocity and tact throughout.
Luke Shaw 6 – Constantly sought to create gaps through linking with Martial on the left hand side, displaying impressive energy levels once again.
Nemanja Matic 4 – How the Serbian continues to be picked, despite looking desperately fatigued and way off the pace each game, is a mystery to every supporter.
Marouane Fellaini 6 – Poor for 91 minutes, a hero in just one stroke of the ball. Scored a superb goal to take his team to the last 16.
Fred 6 – Showed genuine signs of promise in the first half, displaying incision with his passing and a desire to play forward, before fading away after the break.
Jesse Lingard 5 – Buzzed around the pitch with good intent, linking up well with Rashford at times, but ultimately no real end product to help his team.
Anthony Martial 6 – Managed to create some promising angles going forward but did not get on the ball nearly enough.
Marcus Rashford 6 – A very typical Rashford performance, really: plenty of effort and some superb runs which carved out great scoring positions, but absolutely no final product.
