Manchester United star Phil Jones is reportedly on borrowed time at the club as the expiration for his contract continues to draw nearer.
The Englishman has been at the club for quite a number of seasons now but has failed to fully establish himself in the starting XI over a long period of time.
The former Blackburn man was once expected to become a club legend after Sir Alex Ferguson lavished him with praise.
Unfortunately, Jones’ injuries have continued to pile up and has prevented him for developing or holding onto a spot for an extended period.
It appears as though the club’s board and Jose Mourinho have finally lost patience with him so fans may no longer see him as early as this winter.
According to the Daily Star, the Metro report that the lack of negotiations for a new deal is a sign Phil is on borrowed time even if there are plans to trigger a 12 month extension clause or if they don’t sign anyone in January.
With five senior centre-backs currently at the club it would make sense that one of them would be moved on even if no one else is brought in.
Mourinho is known for wanting two players per position and in a four man backline it was always going to be either Jones, Chris Smalling or Marcos Rojo.
