Alexis Sanchez has been ‘acting weird’ on international duty with Chile as his predicament at Manchester United worsens, according to reports.
The forward, signed in the January transfer window, has only managed four goals in 29 appearances, completing just 90 minutes once in the Premier League this season.
Reports have emerged suggesting Sanchez is deeply unhappy in Manchester and wants to negotiate a January transfer to Paris Saint Germain, although the French club is said to be uninterested.
According to Chilean media outlet La Tercera, Sanchez has cut a detached figure in training for Chile, largely staying silent despite being one of the biggest characters in the squad.
If you take the football and money out of Sanchez’s situation, and look at it from a purely human perspective, you can somewhat understand his despondency.
Firstly, uprooting yourself from North London – where he had been for four years – to the Cheshire countryside, where you know nobody, is extremely difficult. He also had a breakup with a long-term partner at around the same time. Couple that with not speaking the local language and lacking proper friends around you, alongside everything happening on the pitch, and you can begin to understand why Sanchez is thinking about jumping ship.
It really is starting to feel like Angel Di Maria 2.0.
