Arsenal may have qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League but the biggest talking point from last night’s match was the injury to Danny Welbeck.
The Englishman went down on the half-hour mark clutching his ankle and now, head coach Unai Emery has provided an update on the injury.
“It’s the worst news tonight, this injury. It’s clear that we are with him in these minutes,” Emery said after the match.
“He was working well and he was having a good match. He had some chances too. His injury was with the mentality of the players.
“They [saw] it was a big injury. When you are playing football, when you are playing in competitive matches, it can happen. You don’t want it to happen but this is our profession.
“Now he is at the hospital. The news is that we are going to wait – but we think it’s a serious injury.”
It’s such a shame for Danny Welbeck. His Arsenal career has been ravaged with injuries and this is just another one to add to the list. Hopefully, he will make a full recovery and can get back to playing football before the end of the season.
