Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri claims he is not thinking about the potential to set a new record against Crystal Palace this weekend.
If the Blues avoid defeat against the Eagles, it would mean the club would have gone 11 games unbeaten under their new boss – a record for a new Premier League manager in his debut season.
However, Sarri claims he isn’t thinking about the record, and is instead choosing to focus on the task at hand. Talking ahead of the Sunday afternoon fixture, Sarri said:
I don’t want to think about the record.
We have to think only about the match. We have to think only about how to gain points. The record is only a consequence.
Sarri also explained that Eden Hazard, who has been nursing a back injury, is expected to return as a substitute at Stamford Bridge. Sarri continued:
Yesterday he had a large part in training and maybe he will not be ready to play 90 minutes at the moment because that was his first training in the last two weeks.
Probably he will be able to play 40 or 45 minutes and for us that is important. But I want to speak to him first.
