Manchester United’s performance against Everton last weekend was far from perfect but they did, at the very least, play with a significantly improved tempo compared to what supporters have grown accustomed to.
With Marcus Rashford serving as a more active presence up front, the likes of Anthony Martial and Juan Mata had more space to roam and effect the game, while Paul Pogba – bolstered by the technically sound influence of Fred behind him – was able to have an impact going forward.
Needless to say, Mourinho has to follow suit against Bournemouth and select a team which brings a similar level of energy in the final third.
With that in mind, here is how Jose Mourinho’s strongest starting XI against Bournemouth would look like.
Alexis Sanchez is back to full fitness and deserves a chance to show what he can do in the No.9 role, especially with it becoming clear that his abilities are wasted out wide.
His buzzing presence up front, coupled with the buzzing influence of Jesse Lingard and deadly goalscoring form of Anthony Martial, should give United a dangerous dimension to their counter-attacks against Eddie Howes’s side, who will leave space in behind at points throughout the game.
