Jose Mourinho was in a tight-lipped mood during yesterday’s press conference in the wake of Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Valencia in the Champions League.
The 55-year-old is under enormous pressure after failing to win any of his last four games as manager, losing two of those to Derby County and West Ham United respectively.
Man United ended up dominating the game after a poor start but nonetheless lacked sufficient composure to put away a series of decent chances.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho refused to discuss Paul Scholes’ rampant criticism of him before the game and pleas from the Old Trafford crowd for his team to attack.

Even Mourinho, a master of creating narratives which suit him, will know his situation now. He has been here before, and each time it has ended the same way.
Implicit in his mention of last season is a belief that United, under his tutelage, peaked by finishing second and reaching an FA Cup final, or perhaps over-performed.
That is, funnily enough, exactly what he said about his Chelsea team in 2015 the season after they won the Premier League title, only for Antonio Conte to take them straight back to the summit a year later. The wheels are very much coming off.
