Fiorentina’s talented young defender Nikola Milenkovic has indicated that he won’t be prepared to leave the club for Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Milenkovic was scouted personally by Man United boss Jose Mourinho in the most recent international break.
The Serb played for his country against Montenegro and Mourinho was spotted in the stands. It’s the second time in a year that the Portuguese coach has watched Serbia in action.
Milenkovic, though, has insisted that he’s not thinking about a possible move to United and wouldn’t leave Fiorentina in January.
“I am happy here and I am delighted to play on a regular basis,” said Milenkovic, effectively implying that he won’t leave in the upcoming transfer window.
“I’ve played every game of the season so far,” the centre-back explained, as per Il Corriere dello Sport.
“I want to continue because playing is the most important thing for me. I hope to continue like this.”
A 23-year-old centre-back, it has been suggested that Mourinho may target Milenkovic as it would please United transfer chief Ed Woodward more than an older target.
But buying a defender from a foreign league in January is always a risk, and always comes at a premium.
