Former Southampton man and Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier has told Chelsea that they need to sign another striker if they want to compete for the title.
Speaking about the Blues’ prospects to Sky Sports, Le Tissier explains that the club have failed to replace Diego Costa following his move to Atletico Madrid during Antonio Conte’s time in charge.
Ironically, Le Tissier says that Costa himself is the sort of player that they should be starting up front.
I think all Chelsea are shot of is a 20-goal forward. Alvaro Morata’s not showing enough confidence and Olivier Giroud looks like a 15-goal man at best. What they could really do with is a player like Diego Costa up front! That must be frustrating for Chelsea knowing they let a player like him leave.
Neither Alvaro Morata or Olivier Giroud have been prolific in front of goal this season as the pair battle it out to start.
The latter had beaten Morata to a starting berth against Southampton, but the Spaniard’s late goal off the bench could be enough to earn him the chance to start against Manchester United this weekend.
