Pundit and former Liverpool player Danny Murphy believes Eden Hazard could go down in history as Chelsea’s greatest ever footballer.
Murphy spoke to talkSPORT recently to discuss the current situation surrounding Hazard, as speculation linking him with a big-money move to Real Madrid continues to surface.
The pundit claimed that should Hazard decide to stay at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future, he will surely be remembered as the Blues’ most talented ever footballer.
So, is he content with being one of the top players in Europe and living in London, playing for Chelsea for the rest of his career? Because if he is, he will go down as the greatest Chelsea player ever, that’s for sure.
He’s nearly there now, and if he stays another five years… you could be talking about another 120 goals. Who is better than him? Osgood, is he up there? Zola, Lampard, Drogba?
Belgium international Hazard has been in scintillating form for Chelsea in the opening stages of the season. He has contributed with eight goals and three assists in all competitions and leads the way as the Premier League’s top goalscorer.
Hazard has often reaffirmed his commitment to the cause at Chelsea but has also flirted with the prospect of one day playing for Real Madrid.
Chelsea will be hoping that Hazard does indeed stay put at the club for years to come as he continues to thrive under the management of Maurizio Sarri in West London.
