Paul Pogba rhetorically asked “Do you want me dead?” when journalists approached him for a quick chat following Manchester United’s 3-1 defeat to West Ham United on Saturday.
The Frenchman cut a furious figure on the pitch as Man United suffered their worst result of an already doomed season against West Ham.
Such a poor result rounded off a nightmare week during which Pogba, in an episode caught on camera, was confronted by Jose Mourinho over an Instagram story he had posted during the defeat to Derby County.
And the 25-year-old, who seems to be firmly heading for the exit door at Old Trafford, was in no mood to talk with journalists on Saturday.

Perhaps no quote better encapsulates the mood around the camp at United at the moment. Pogba clearly does not feel merely stifled by Mourinho on the pitch but indeed in everything he does, posts, or says. There was once upon a time when the manager talked about “letting the horses run freely”. At the moment, however, that notion feels like it belongs to another world entirely.
His relationship with Mourinho has become toxic and impregnated with distrust, disillusionment, and even hatred. And you can be sure the dressing room feels a similar way.
No wonder Pogba is keen to find a new club sooner rather than later.
