Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed Anthony Martial‘s good form comes down to how he’s changed his approach to football and his hard work.
The Frenchman was previously out of favour but has come in to the starting XI lately and has performed admirably much to the delight of the club’s fans.
United defeated Everton 2-1 at Old Trafford and the youngster was central to it all as he won the penalty that led to the first goal before going on to score the winner.
Against Chelsea last week Martial grabbed both goals in the 2-2 draw and perhaps would’ve been disappointed his defensive teammates couldn’t hold on for all three points.
The former AS Monaco man had a lot of question marks over his attitude and potential but it’s safe to say he’s answered a fair few of those.
Speaking after the clash Mourinho said: “I think everything [has improved]. I think he has natural talent that he had one, two years ago but he is improving his way of thinking football, thinking in training and thinking about his role in the team.
“So I am really really happy with him and Luke Shaw and the boys that are improving. Difficult periods for them and for myself because I want more from them and I took them to the limit but in this moment both of them.
“And in today’s case Anthony was able to do things he was not able to do before so really really happy with him.”
The only thing that’s left for Martial to do is to keep up his incredible form so he can finally shrug off suggestions he’s inconsistent.
It’s normal for a footballer of his age to have good spells and poor spells before eventually levelling out.
Fans will certainly be hoping he’s now levelling out and that he can continue to brush opponents aside as he reestablishes himself as one of the brightest prospects in the league.
